Topic 3: Benefiting from Advancements in scientific research

UDHR Article 27 Part 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that we all have the right to benefit from advancements in scientific research. We are developing a new website asserting that right by showcasing the science of natural health and the science of natural energy.

The ideal for human rights, health, safety and peace is an approach to technology, land management, and settlement design that adopts arrangements observed in flourishing natural ecosystems. It includes a set of design principles derived using whole-systems thinking. This is known as permaculture. We have made huge advances in technology, but we should be the masters of that technology, not its slaves. The website will highlight some of the advances in energy and health which are available to us and which benefit humans with minimal burden on the planet, its resources and the individuals using them.

Part 2 of UDHR Article 27 gives protection to owners of intellectual property for a defined period. When the protection ends, the creations and artifacts become part of the cultural and scientific heritage of mankind. Many discoveries of natural phenomena have never been anyone’s intellectual property and should be freely available for the benefit of all. Part 1 of UDHR Article 27 gives us the right to enjoy the scientific, as well as artistic and cultural heritage of mankind.
